Play Therapy uses the power of play to create a child-focused therapeutic treatment method to help kids overcome emotional and behavioral issues in a playful non-judgmental approach. It is the gold standard in treating children from ages 1 to 18.
Play therapy is adapted to meet the needs, developmental stages, and interests of your child. It is uniquely adapted to meeting the needs of traumatized children from ages 0 to 18.
At The Place for Counseling, our therapists use many different play Therapy modalities and play based activities to meet your child’s interest, attention and needs.
Play Therapy Activities include:
Sand tray, art therapy, and child-focused play. Our therapists also incorporate educationally or developmental targeted books and stories, games, story telling, writing, expressive arts to help meet your child where they are and express, work through emotions, develop coping skills and learn to regulate.
Our therapists are also trained in other types of play therapy such as Theraplay, which focuses on increasing attachment and bonding, improving parenting in a hands-on playful manner, and needing help to navigate relationship with the admin who is pushing boundaries and is doing less not doing all job mitigates behavioral problems.
